Sat 9 October 2010

Hi all,

Entries are rolling in and thing are looking great for another successful day in Opotiki. The Motu Road is in a pretty fast state and the river continues to be challenging for the novice. I love hearing all the battle story’s from the water. The levels have been pretty good for training so here’s hoping the downpours continue and we get some rain a few days before the race ensuring we get a good flow yet clear water on the day, water is still cold.

The Scott Motu 160 is going to be a tough but very satisfying challenge. I’ve been silly enough to ride the distance but dam ya feel good afterwards. Or maybe it was a couple of days after. I forgot my Horleys for recovery, instead opting for a few Export 33’s.

That gets me onto my next point. We’re proud to announce a new supporter of our events for 2009.  DB’s Low-Carb beer, Export 33 will be offered to all finishers of both the Bay Trust Opotiki Motu Challenge and the Scott Motu 160. We will also be giving away Export 33 merchandise as spot prizes. We’ll find some top shelf brew for the competitors under 18.

So keep sending in those entry’s and on behalf of the Mutlisport Opotiki team we look forward to seeing you on October 10.

Break the Hour

We will be offering $500 to the person who can break the 1hr on the Stage II 17km run leg, thanks to Opotiki 4 Sqaure. The current fastest time posted is held by Aaron Strong in a time of 1 hour 30 seconds. If more than one person goes under the hour it will be the fastest who will claim the prize.

Tee Shirts

This year we have cotton tee’s available to purchase either on the website at time of entering or there will be limited numbers available at race rego and on race day. These are on sale for $25, our graphic designer has made a good job this year and they look great.
