About

The Motu Challenge was established in 1993 and has been run ever since by an enthusiastic group of volunteers within the framework of Multisport Opotiki Incorporated. The event is not-for-profit.

 

The original concept was to create a world-class multsiport race that would attract top athletes from around New Zealand and the world.

 

In 2009 the Motu 160 was added and run along side the multisport challenge. In 2015 a duathon was added and in 2016 a mini motu event was created to cater for children and beginners.
